Oral day 10

PICTURE:

This picture depicts a scene at the old folk’s home. In the centre of the picture, there is a young man. He held his left hand over his right up in the air for all the old folks to see. I think he is teaching the old folks how to wash their hands properly, teaching them how to wash the back of their hands. I think the young man wanted to teach the elderly how to wash they hands because he wanted to rise their level of hygiene. By doing so, it can prevent them from contacting diseases easily.

I think he is teaching at a pace which is too fast for the elderly. The old lady in front of him was not following what he was doing. She had a puzzled look, probably because she did not understand what she was supposed to do. The other three elderly in the same table were also not doing the same thing as the man, showing that they could not keep up with his pace. In all, not all the elderly will be able to learn the correct skill of washing their hands, as some who are either too shy to do or that they could not follow the pace of the young man.

CONVERSATION:

1)Last year teachers’ day, I went back to my primary school to look for my former primary school teachers. I was early so I went to watch the performance first. There was this group of primary five boys, they were break-dancing. One of them even managed to do one-handed handstand. It was really impressive. Being so young yet able to do such difficult dance moves really impressed me.

I would not consider a career in acting. I do not like the feeling of standing in front of everyone and perform. I doubt I have that much courage. The most important part is that I am a person who loves being alone, a person who does not stand out in the crowd. If I become an actress, there will be people who will recognize me on the streets. I really love the privacy that being an actress will lose, that’s why I will not consider being one.

2)I agree people worry too much about things. For me, I am a person who thinks a lot. Just one simple thing, there may be a lot of different way out. However, in life, you could only do one thing once. Hence there is only one possibility. People always say, “if it was like this then” but there will not be an “if”, if the matter had past.

There are many things in life to worry about. I worry about how I should cope with my studies, how to have time to play, even how to spend my limited life wisely. However, these worries do not bother me too long. Let tomorrow worry about itself.

Oral day 8

PICTURE:

This picture depicts a scene of a small field of a kindergarten. I guessed it is a kindergarten because the students are very young, about the age of five or six, and that none wore uniforms. The boy on the foreground seems to be playing the role of the catcher. He is trying to catch the students behind the woman. The woman, on the other hand, has to protect the row of children from being caught by him. From the board smile on the woman’s face, I guess they are enjoying themselves. Behind them, there is also a group of people playing the same game. However three boys could not keep up with the pace of the others and separated from the row of children.

I guess the children would bath after they finish playing. I believe after playing for a period of time under the hot sun, most of them would be perspiring. Having a bath would relieve them from feeling hot and sticky due to the perspiration.

CONVERSATION:

1)I would like to run a magic shop. I love to see the amused face when magic was performed. Many magic performances are aided by the use of science. I am interested in the different ways the knowledge of science is used in our daily lives. Moreover, to perform in front people requires a lot of courage that I am quite certain is lacking in my life. Being able to stand on the front of strangers, performing magic, making them puzzled of how I did it, I think is quite an interesting job.

I think running a business is difficult. It requires a lot of funds start a business. Luck and skill is also needed to keep it running. Many wanted to start a business, become their own boss. However, only a few is able to succeed from their business. Although not many people succeed from their business, many still wishes to own their own business.

2)Women might find it difficult to pursue a career and have a family even in this modern world. One of the difficulties is that she has to look of her children while she works. It would become a bigger problem if her children is very young and requires a lot attention. For example a two to three year old child, falls ills very easily as he does not have a very strong immune system. Hence when he is sick, the mother would have to take leave from home to take care of him. By doing so, she would hinder the progress of her work. Also, many are stereotyped that married women should stay at home and be dutiful housewives if her husband’s income is able to support the family. Employers can help these women by letting them take leave from work when there is an emergency at home.

The advantage of working from home is that women can look after their children while they work. However, it also means that the women might not be in full concentration with their children around.

Oral day 6

PICTURE:

This picture depicts a scene of a stadium. There are four girls in the foreground. They are cheering for a soccer match that is going on at that time. I guessed it is a soccer match instead of a race because the four girls are standing in the field rather than the spectator seats, also there are people sitting on the racing tracks. I think they are cheering for their school’s team as they are all wearing the same uniform.

The girl on the very right is clapping her hand enthusiastically, probably because their school team is leading at that moment. She is smiling slightly as she shouted showing that she is pleased with the current results. The girl next to her is also grinning happily as she clapped her hands. On her right, a girl seems to be jumping happily when the photo was taken. As for the last girl, she is holding a lollipop on her right hand. I think she is eating it as she watched the match go on.

I think the members for their school team will feel very encouraged to know that their friends are cheering for them, and will give their best effort to win the match.

CONVERSATION:

2)I do not think that everyone can be good at sport. Everyone can learn a sport. However, not everyone can be good at it. Being good at sport requires one to be “talented”, whereby the person is physical built, having a body that can allow him to run faster than normal people. Not all people are born athletics, so hard work is also as important. Training hard makes you improve, but sometimes training can be quite tough, and people give up on the way. Also, one has to be fit, and keep his body in the best condition to be good at sport.

I think it is true that men are better at sport than women. The biggest evidence is that the Olympics competitors are divided into male and female, and competition is only conducted between the same gender. If there is not difference in the performance of the competitors, why did they separate them in the first place? Males are generally physically better in sports that females, they are just born in this way. However, it does not mean that all males are better at sport. Of course one not as fit will lose out to a female who is fitter.

Oral day 4

PICTURE:

This picture depicts a scene of a group wheelchair-bounded people boarding a bus which is specially designed for disabled people who travels in wheelchairs. The door of the bus is wider than normal travel buses so that the wheelchairs are able to get through. There is also a ramp so that people can push the wheelchair up the bus.

In the centre of the picture, there is a disabled man is being pushed up by a man in t-shirt. The disabled man instead of smiling happily like the woman behind him, he was frowning slightly. I guess he is an independent man who does not like to rely on other for help as he did not accept the help of the out-stretched hand of the man on the bus and also his hands were on the wheels of the wheelchair, making an effort to push himself up the ramp. I guess the man on the bus does not belong to the voluntary organization for disabilities as he did not wear a tag unlike the others.

The woman, also in wheelchair, is waiting to the man to board the bus. She smiled happily and seemed quite excited. I guess this might be the first time she is boarding a bus ever since she is disabled.

I think after they had board the bus, they would be brought to places of interest for visiting. I believe that moving about in wheelchair is very inconvenient for them, thus they might have not been to many places since they are disabled. I think the voluntary organizations wanted the disabled to be exposed to the outside world and see how the world had changed over the years.

CONVERSATION:

2) I think we should protect natural habitats and looking after wildlife. We only have one mother Earth. Earth is not only the home of humans, but also animals and plants. The most direct effect of destroying natural habitats is killing plants. These natural habitats are homes of animals, they will too be affected. Plants and animals are killed, might even extinct. The effects will eventually hit us, humans. Increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the best prove. It takes millions of years let a forest to form, but only days to clear the whole forest. I think we are destroying nature faster than it can replace itself. The number of natural habitats and wildlife is depleting, and it is not a good sign. Although there are many side effects of damaging nature, I still think developments of cities are important. We should still develop cities, but in ways that does not harm the earth, or damage nature in order to progress. Researches are finding other ways of getting energy instead of burning fuels that causes pollutions, such as the use of solar energy. I believe that is a good start and the attitude of trying to protect mother Earth should continue.

Oral day 2

PICTURE:

This picture depicts a scene of five women each practicing to cut a dummy’s hair. I guess all five of them are training apprentices who are currently having a hands-on session on the hair of the dummy. I think they are in training and not professionals as they are practicing on dummies’ hair instead of hair of real humans.

Starting from the left, the women with a white sleeveless shirt have a very calm expression on her face as she combs the hair with her right hand. She may be thinking how to cut the dummy’s hair before starting. Unlike the other four women who held their scissors with their right hand, she holds the scissors with her left hand. I guess she is probably left-handed. Next to her is a woman wearing a white spaghetti-strapped top. I guess she is trying to estimate the length that she is going to cut for the dummy’s fringe as she pulled the hair upwards. She seems to be enjoying herself as she is smiling happily at that time. On her left, a woman wearing a patterned shirt is grinning, showing her teeth, as she styles the hair of the dummy. I can see that she has a great passion for hairstyling. The woman next to her, wearing a v-necked shirt, is combing the hair of the dummy. Finally the women on the very right of the picture, she is in full concentration. She seems to be having a hard time as she looks a little stressed.

I think after they finish styling the hairs of the dummies, they will proceed on to practice the skill of washing the hair as there is a bottle of conditioner on the table.

I strongly believe they will become professional hairstylist in no time if they carry on being passionate about the art of hairstyling.

CONVERSATION:

1)I do not have a favourite hairstyle. I usually let the hairstylist decide wad type of hairstyle he or she is going to cut for me. As long it of a certain length that I could tie it up, I am fine with it. This is because I do not look as good with my hair short. I have mixed feelings about going to the hairdresser. I do not like the feeling of having a sudden change of hairstyle as I think I am too used to the previous haircut. However I need to cut them regularly as I need to keep them neat. I think hairstyles are quite important. When someone first look at you, they see your face, which is somewhat “shaped” by your hair. Many say that first impression counts, that why having a hairstyle that suits you is quite important. However, I think the character of the person is even more important. You can change your hairstyle easily, but in order for one to change his character, it might take years.

2)I think that the installation of CCTV or security cameras in public places has its pros and cons. CCTV protects shops against thief and other crimes. It can also be used as an evidence in court. Policemen can use these tapes from the CCTVs to aid them when they are solving crimes. Hence CCTV are quite useful. However, the CCTVs is also a monitoring device for any other people in that same place. Without knowing, you might be monitored from the minute in step into a shopping. Nobody likes the feeling of being monitored, even though you have a clear conscious. People might feel restricted instead of the intended feeling of you are safe from thieves. In all, such devices are necessary, but it must get the understanding of public in order to let them feel safe from crimes.

T1W13

As the mystery of the ice-prince perpetuated, a new student, Evelyn, transferred into Jerry’s class.

Evelyn is cheerful and friendly causing her to be well-liked by many and being able make friends easily. In just a day’s time, she had made friends with almost everyone in the class. Unlike the Bagen who is perpetually unaffected by the surrounding, Evelyn is susceptible to flattery and tends to fall into the traps of others. The two were hardly analogous.

To Bagen, she was just neurotic and does not deserve his attention. However there is a small hope that Evelyn would be able to neutralize the coldness of this “ice-prince”

T2W1&2

There is this person in Jerry’s class. Bagen never had friends and was always alone. Nobody knew anything about him. All they know was that he is always the top scholar of the school, his name and his family background...

Being the only scion of a family of the famous Feng Holdings, he never knew the destitution of the outside world. Since young, he was being indoctrinated to be the inheritor of his father’s wealth. At the age of seven, he is able to speak and write in more than eight languages. Also, he plays many types of many musical instruments and developed a talent for music. He was trained to be able to cope with any problems he had, it was one of the ways to prepare him to take care of his father's business.

Knowing that he would be the future boss of the company, there were many obsequious people around him. Over the years, their apple polishing and fulsome praises upon him had made him indifferent to his surrounding. Also because of that, he was given the appellation of “ice-prince” by his classmates.

Since year one, the first is always him, with no exception. However nobody knew why he is here. He certainly has the potential to study in the country’s top school or maybe overseas. However... he is here... only in an above average school...
